Session

Our Session meeting is made up of various committees or Gatherings coming together to discuss the needs and function of Forest Hills’ as a church and within the community. Session typically meets the second Sunday of each month, where the Gathering moderators discuss how to best guide each ministry area in support and service of the . All are welcome to attend Session, Gathering and congregation members included.

Core Ministries

Christian Formation & Youth

The Christian Formation Gathering is responsible for directing the Church’s programs of Christian Formation as defined by the overall Session. They provide opportunities to nurture spiritual growth through Bible Study, as well as educational, seasonal, and musical events.

Fellowship

The Fellowship Gathering provides opportunities for members of the Church to strengthen bonds of friendship, understanding and appreciation of others within the church family. Members of our congregation come from such diverse backgrounds, work in various fields, and have children enrolled in different schools they need a chance to get to know one another on a more personal basis.

Fellowship seeks creative and imaginative ways for members to be drawn together socially to spiritually strengthen the bonds of friendship and Christian love in our church community.

Mission

The Mission Gathering extends the ministry of Forest Hills to persons outside the church who are in need. This committee leads our church in following the example of our Lord in service to others through action and ministry.

The purpose of Missions is two-fold: 1) Cooperate with the work of other service agencies in relieving human suffering. 2) Plan service projects that involve members of Forest Hills in giving their time, talents, and financial resources to meet the spiritual, mental, and physical needs of our greeter community.

Worship

The task of the Worship Gathering is to work with the pastors to create an engaging and dynamic worship experience for the congregation to deepen our faith and lift up our praises to God’s grace. When deciding what to include the gathering will focus on these three principles.

First, that worship is grounded in theology and is in keeping with the revelation of God in Scripture.

Second, what is done in worship must be intelligently understood and not blindly followed.

Third, worship should inspire and instruct the congregation. We are called to praise and glorify God, and to listen to the spirit so that they may serve Him with our lives.

Support Ministries

Property

The Property Gathering is responsible for supervising the maintenance of the church property as a whole, both the building and the grounds. They are to see that the physical presence of the church is properly maintained and serviced as needed.

Personnel

The Personnel Gathering develops and administers our personnel policies. They exist to supervise, review, and evaluate staff performance; to recommend salary and benefit adjustments; and to respond, as needed, to any special concerns.

The Financial Management Gathering prepares, generates, and oversees the expenditures of the church budget for any given year.
