 Youth

Studies have shown that youth involved in a church youth group are more successful educationally, professionally, and relationally. (Soul Searching, by Christian Smith)  We know that youth actively involved in church grow in faith and follow God's command to change the world.  Youth ministry at FHPC has a simple goal, "To connect the kids to the church, and connect the church to the kids."

Youth are encouraged and challenged to participate fully in the mission and ministry and FHPC.  They have opportunities for retreats, mission trips, and regular fellowship events.  They serve alongside adults who mentor and support them.  If you are looking for an incredible place to nurture your youth in the faith, this is it.  Our youth work at being open and welcoming to all.  This participation in the full life of the congregation provides opportunities for youth to encounter God, find purpose for their lives, and recognize and articulate God's redemptive work in their world.

FHPC youth also participate in the larger church.  Three have become or are in the process of becoming ministers.  One is volunteering in a year long mission.  Several are active in their Campus Ministry and some hold leadership positions.  Several have held leadership positions in the presbytery Youth Council.  Several have served as enablers at Massanetta Springs.  And kids who are consistently active during high school, continue their active memberships in congregations as young adults at double the national average.
